Best Useful Tips and Tricks for Chrome on iOS | 2022 Guide

Many Apple geeks don’t use the native Safari app but the Chrome browser to surf the web.

There is no doubt that Safari and Chrome have completely different layouts. So if you’ve switched to Google Chrome, check out our tips and life hacks to make your online presence easier and more enjoyable.

Synchronize With Your Other Devices

Syncing between accounts on your devices is extremely easy if you have a Google account.

  1. Press the “Menu” button in the lower right corner and select “Settings.”
  2. Find “Synchronization” and “Google Services.”
  3. Switch Chrome data synchronization on.

Chrome for iOS syncs everything by default after you login into your account. However, you may also control the type of data that is synchronized. To do so, go to the Settings page, hit your profile, and then deactivate the slider next to Sync everything to get a variety of sync options.

Please note that your history is also synchronized when you synchronize your browser data. This can slow down surfing the Internet. Therefore, find out how to clear a search history on the phone in advance.

Best Useful Tips and Tricks for Chrome on iOS

Keep Current Web Sessions On

Chrome for iOS allows you to effortlessly access browsing sessions on different devices if logged in with a Google account.

Simply click Recent Tabs from the Chrome menu to get a real-time list of devices as well as all active tab icons – select a tab, and you’re done. Isn’t it cool?

Translate Pages Directly In The Browser

There is a built-in Google Translate function to translate sites from another language in Chrome. Enter the “Menu” section and select the “Translator” function to access this.

The page is translated automatically into languages, which can be selected from the provided list on the “Translate” toolbar.

Search For Information With Your Voice

Google Chrome has a built-in voice search, indicated by a microphone symbol. To enable the “Voice Search” feature in Chrome, do the following:

  1. Go to the “Menu” →”Settings” → “Voice Search” section
  2. Enable the “Voice Answers” option
  3. If necessary, change the language of communication.

Now, using voice search, you can hear the audio response to the request.

Save PDFs

For a long time, saving a PDF in Chrome for iOS was challenging. However, Chrome has since solved this problem by creating a dedicated shared sheet for PDFs. But where exactly is it?

You should notice an “OPEN IN” option at the bottom of the screen after downloading the PDF file.

Tap it to open the file in other applications like Notes, Adobe Acrobat, Continue on PC, and iBooks, or save it directly to your cloud storage via the Files app.

Change The Type Of Search Engine

You can change the search engine that you use. On the “Settings” tab, choose “Search Engine” to switch to Yahoo! or Bing search engine.

Compared to Android, integrating additional search engines into Chrome for iOS is nearly impossible.

Disable Suggested Content

Have you ever noticed how many ridiculous suggested articles appear on new tabs? Unsurprisingly, Google is really good at displaying posts that will keep you from doing your task.

Fortunately, you can permanently delete them. To do so, go to the Settings screen and disable Article Suggestions.

Bookmark Pages For Offline Reading

Going somewhere with no Internet access? Don’t be concerned. To store the current webpage locally, open the Share screen and then hit Read Later. You may repeat this process for as many pages as you desire.

Tap the Reading List button on new tab pages or the Chrome menu to view the saved pages.

Lock Tabs In Incognito Mode With Face ID Or Touch ID

There will be a new privacy option in the future version of the Google Chrome app for iOS. It will be available shortly, so keep your browsing app up-to-date by having the most recent version on your iPhone or iPad. But, before turning this function on, ensure that you have completed the Face ID or Touch ID setup on your iPhone or iPad.

To activate Touch ID or Face ID lock on incognito tabs, open the Settings app on the Chrome iOS browser, navigate to Privacy, and lock incognito tabs when Chrome shuts.

Scan The QR Code Using Google Chrome

The iPhone camera app automatically scans QR codes, but if you use the Google Chrome app, scanning the QR code right in the browser is a wonderful feature. No need to quit the Chrome app to scan the QR code when the Chrome browser gives that option.

The Scan QR Code and Voice Search choices will show when you tap the search symbol. Choose Scan QR Code.

Safari vs Chrome: Which Should You Choose?

Well, it all depends on the type of user you are. Because Safari is integrated with iOS, it is the ideal choice for users who use several Apple devices and want a better device-to-device experience.

However, if you have one Apple device and another Windows or Android device, Chrome may be the best option because it is cross-platform.

Safari is better optimized for iOS, consumes fewer resources, and prolongs the battery life of your Apple device.

However, Chrome has a huge number of features that can be indispensable for the average user.
